As Llanerch Farm is located with outstanding views over the Dee Valley, the route to the farmhouse is uphill and relatively steep (in places). The road is not as foreboding as it sounds (there are mums up here doing the daily school run!), though I appreciate many visitors are used to town and city driving. It's possible to virtually test out the entire route off the A5 on Google Street View - and I'd encourage guests to do this in advance.

The most effective way to navigate here is by typing "Llanerch Farm Froncysyllte" into Google Maps. This will get you straight to the door, whichever direction you're approaching from.

If you want to use regular SatNav, type in the postcode: LL20 7RS. This will give Llanerch's location as about a mile short of where it actually is - but continue up the hill until you see the big white farmhouse with green metal barn on your right.

I'd recommend turning up Cwmalis Road off the A5, as shown below, and avoiding the School Lane turning, as this road is very narrow with a tricky hairpin bend to negotiate off the main road that way. The route shown on the map below is up single-lane roads with plenty of passing places. Click on this map to go straight to Google Maps:

Another way of reaching Llanerch Farm takes you past Chirk Marina and Chirk Castle - this route is shown in blue on the map below (click on this map to go straight to Google Maps):

If you're heading into/out of Llangollen, there's an additional, and very scenic, alternative route highlighted below, which you might like to try!
